Thorium Dreams Begins
I have been writing about IEC Fusion Technology for a while and people have been telling me that thorium fission in Molten Salt Reactors is the way to go. I was not convinced.
Then a story in Energy From Thorium made me change my mind.
I'm kind of a sceptic on this so I intend to go at it from the point of view of: what are the problems, can they be solved? What are the risks? Are they acceptable? I was trained and qualified as a nuclear reactor operator by the US Navy so I do know my way around this sort of thing. In addition a lot of work on fission and fusion are similar. Radiation safety, material acceptability, neutron damage, hydrogen embrittlement, etc.
